Intercultural perspectives on language varieties
The 39 International Conference of the Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA) will be held on 27-29 April 2022 at the Millares Carlo Building of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, home of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Geography and History and the Institute of Textual Analysis and Applications, although one plenary session will be held in Gáldar. The conference is organised by the research group 'Discourse, Communication and Society' (DiCoS), with the collaboration of the groups 'Estudios de corpus y lingüística aplicada', 'Estudios sociolingüísticos y socioculturales' (ESS), 'Traducción e Interpretación y Aprendizaje de Lengua' (TrIAL) and 'Variación y cambio lingüístico' (VARLING).
The conference theme is 'Intercultural perspectives on language varieties ', which will provide a forum for presenting theories, methodological proposals and ongoing research that delve into communicative processes and the role of different languages, cultures and contexts in the creation of meaning and mutual understanding in a globalised world. The conference theme is not restrictive, therefore all proposals for participation in applied linguistics are welcome.
